Wintering Well:
A Winter Community Therapy Group To Support Connection, Energy & Mood
Support for Connection, Energy, & Mood
Winters in Oregon are especially dreary, and it’s common for the dark, short, rainy days to impact our social connectedness, energy, and mood. Join us as we gather weekly in community and solidarity, online during the lunch hour- (eating welcome!). We will check in, learn about behavior activation to support mood and energy levels, and navigate the rainy winter months alongside one another.
Who this group is for:
This group is for adults who want to support their sense of wellbeing through community, conversation, and ways to increase energy and mood throughout the week via behavior activation— a technique that recognizes that small changes in our day to day (such as getting out of the house, calling a friend, going outside for a walk) can make a big impact on mental wellbeing. This group can act as a supplement individual therapy, or act as a stand-alone. Participants should feel comfortable taking the online video call from their location with video on for the hour session, and they should have privacy during the hour. Participants should be open to sharing within the group context, and open to doing small, brief reflections and experiential homework assignments for about 15-30 minutes per week outside of sessions.
Who this group is NOT for:
This group is not the best fit for those experiencing an active crisis, or who need a high level of specialized care. If you inquire and it is found that this group is not a good fit, you'll be connected with referrals that may better align for your specific circumstances.
Next Steps:
A brief phone screening is required prior to the start of this group to ensure the group is a good fit. The phone screening is scheduled for 30 minutes, and is free of charge. This is a good time to ask questions and share about hopes for the group.
Participants are expected to commit to attending all 6 sessions. Payments for sessions are taken following each session, at the rate of $30/ session, using secure online payment system.

Goals of the Group:
This group supports participants to:
1. Identify and engage with 3 ways of supporting mood and energy levels through meaningful activities through the winter months.
2. Identify avoidance patterns (withdrawal, rumination, procrastination) and replace patterns with healthy, approachable steps that support mental health.
3. Strengthen awareness of mood- behavior connection: learn how actions shift emotional states and build self efficacy through taking action.
4. Increase social connection and reduce isolation through supportive environment and shared activities and reflections.
What to Expect:
This group will follow a structured format and will include:
-
Check ins- including highs and lows of the week
-
Brief, educational topic of the week to help support mood, energy, and connection
-
Time to reflect, share, and engage with each other and the selected topic
-
Occasional homework in between sessions to put concepts into practice in day to day life. Expect about 15-30 minutes of homework per week.
