Hi, I'm Aimee. I am a LPC in Portland, Oregon, and the owner of Portland Hiking Therapy. I specialize in walk and talk therapy and ecotherapy, integrating movement, nature, and evidence-informed mental health care into clinical practice. Over the years, I’ve supported clients outdoors while also helping expand awareness of walk and talk therapy as an emerging and meaningful therapeutic modality. I've walked thousands of miles alongside my clients, and am excited to share my knowledge with therapists so that they can create a practice that helps their clients while supporting their long term sustainability in the field.

This training was created not from theory alone, but from lived clinical experience navigating the ethical, relational, logistical, and therapeutic realities of practicing therapy outdoors.

My goal is to help clinicians feel both inspired and professionally grounded when integrating walk and talk therapy into their work.

Walk and Talk Therapy Training
for Mental Health Professionals
Learn How to Ethically and Confidently Integrate Therapy Outdoors
More therapists are recognizing that healing takes place in many environments. Walk and talk therapy offers an approach that integrates movement, nature, and side-by-side conversation to support nervous system regulation, reduce barriers to care, and help some clients engage more comfortably in the therapeutic process.

This 90-minute training is designed for mental health therapists in private practice seeking practical, ethically grounded guidance on integrating walk and talk therapy into clinical work.
Topics include informed consent, confidentiality outdoors, screening, safety considerations, documentation, best practices, and real-world implementation strategies.

Created by a practicing walk and talk therapist with 5 years of clinical experience, this training has supported hundreds of clinicians exploring outdoor therapy integration. Aimee Frazier, MA, LPC is one of the leading voices in walk and talk therapy integration, bringing together clinical expertise, experiential insight, and evidence-informed practices.

For many clients, sitting face-to-face in an office can feel intimidating, emotionally constraining, or disconnected from how humans naturally regulate stress and connect. Walk and talk therapy offers a powerful alternative: movement, nature, and side-by-side conversation that can deepen therapeutic connection while reducing barriers to care.

This training is designed to help you move beyond the idea of walk and talk therapy and learn how to implement it safely, confidently, and professionally in real-world practice.

Whether you are curious about integrating movement into therapy, drawn to ecotherapy approaches, or seeking new ways to support nervous system regulation and relational safety with clients, this training will give you a grounded, practical framework you can immediately apply.

Why Therapists Are Drawn to Walk and Talk Therapy
Clients often report feeling:
-
Less intimidated outdoors
-
More emotionally open while walking side-by-side
-
More regulated through movement
-
More connected to themselves and their environment
-
More willing to engage in therapy consistently
Walk and talk therapy can be particularly supportive for clients experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, relational inhibition, shame, nervous system dysregulation, or difficulty with emotional vulnerability.
For some clients, especially men, neurodivergent individuals, trauma survivors, and highly activated nervous systems, the movement and spaciousness of outdoor therapy can reduce pressure and create a more accessible entry point into emotional processing.

A Different Way of Doing Therapy
Walk and talk therapy is more than simply “taking therapy outside.” It changes the rhythm of conversation. It softens the intensity of eye contact. It allows movement, landscape, and nervous system regulation to become part of the therapeutic process itself. As the mental health field evolves, more clinicians are recognizing the importance of embodied, relational, and nature-connected approaches to care.
This training will help you begin offering walk and talk therapy with greater confidence, clarity, and ethical integrity.
